PESHAWAR: The Roadmap Implementation Committee (RIC) of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday held a detailed review meeting to assess the ongoing progress of the KP Governance Roadmap, particularly focusing on initiatives under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Investment and Institutional Support Project (KP-RIISP).

The meeting, chaired by the Secretary of PHE, evaluated the milestones achieved in expanding clean drinking water facilities and upgrading sanitation infrastructure in the newly merged districts. Officials presented statistical data showing a 15% increase in functional water supply schemes over the last quarter.

Special emphasis was laid on community involvement and the efficient use of the Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) to resolve citizen complaints promptly. The Secretary directed all field officers to ensure that project timelines are strictly adhered to, maintaining the highest standards of transparency and accountability as envisioned by the provincial government and World Bank partners.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Investment and Institutional Support Project (KP-RIISP) organized a comprehensive two-day capacity-building workshop focused on Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS) for project engineers, social mobilizers, and district administrators.

The training aimed to equip the implementation staff with the necessary knowledge to identify, mitigate, and manage environmental and social risks associated with rural infrastructure development. Experts from the World Bank and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted interactive sessions, highlighting the importance of sustainable development practices.

During the concluding session, the Project Director KP-RIISP emphasized that minimizing ecological footprints and protecting local community rights are non-negotiable elements of all ongoing and future projects. Participants were also trained on how to integrate these safeguards directly into the digital monitoring systems for real-time compliance tracking.
