Transforming Merged Areas through inclusive development and institutional strengthening
To improve the delivery of citizen-centric public services and strengthen state capability in the newly merged areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through enhanced infrastructure, improved agricultural productivity, sustainable water management, and strengthened institutional capacity for effective governance and service delivery.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Investment and Institutional Support Project (KP-RIISP) is a flagship initiative launched by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through the Planning & Development Department, with financial support from the World Bank. Recognizing the critical development needs of the Merged Districts (erstwhile FATA), KP-RIISP is designed to modernize public service delivery, rehabilitate multi-sectoral infrastructure, and build institutional capacity. By focusing on sustainable water supply system, sanitation, agri-smart initiatives , and community-driven local institutional development, the project aims to bridge socio-economic gaps and build long-term climate resilience for rural households.
